The Civic Action Time Capsule is a nonpartisan project of ideas42 and founding partner Vote.org. 

Silver linings are hard to come by in 2020. But from our perspective, there’s at least one: this is the year that millions of Americans made their civic voices heard – speaking out in person and virtually, at the polls and in the streets, and by being active in their communities. Let’s keep the momentum going! We can harness the energy we have today to mobilize our future selves. That’s where the Civic Action Time Capsule comes in – it’s a tool that allows you to memorialize how and why you were civically active in 2020, recall the excitement of this moment, and send a message to your future self. 

Using insights from behavioral science, we created the Civic Action Time Capsule to help you capture your memories and feelings of 2020 while they’re still fresh. In 2022 (the next major election year), we’ll send responses back to you as a reminder of what motivated you this year so you can inspire yourself all over again.
